About BOU SABA FAMILY IN MIYE OU MIYE
Please sign in to see more. The origins of the clan/tribe goes back to Hauran, Syria. During the Ottoman period, individuals used to move around seeking opportunities to better their lives.
The original family surname is NaemahDawo. As the family grew, the surname changed. Some family groups took their fathers or grandfathers names, as their last name. Others went by the nickname they were known as (a.k.a.)Of course, the moukhtar (head of the village) played a pivotal role in the name changes at will.
The NaemahDawo family moved to Ferzol, Lebanon, and settled there. The family got so big, and slowly started to go by different surnames. For example, Naemah, Ateyeh, Saba, Abi Saba, Bousaba, Dawo, Saliba, and more.
From Ferzol some family members moved to Mhaydse near Bikfaiya, Mount Lebanon. It is said, five brothers left Mhaydse and went their different ways. The same story about the five brothers, is circulating among the Bousaba’s in different locations.
1. Deir Al-Qamar, Chouf: The family used to go by Abi Saba; now, it is Bousaba / Naemah. This brother moved to this location early 1500’s.
2. Aakar, North Lebanon: They are known as Saba.
3. Antelias, Mount Lebanon: Abusaba
4. Miye ou Miye, South Lebanon: Bousaba and Aassaf. To assimilate in the western culture some are going by Saba as a surname.
5. Nasrah, Palestine: Unknown.
Note: Their Christian denomination changed, too. When they came from Hauran, they were Greek Orthodox. In Mhaydse, some became Maronite. Our 3x-great-grandfather of Miye ou Miye, was Maronite. In the late 1800’s, His descendants changed to Protestant in spite of the local church, due to its policies. Eventually, they switched back to the Catholic denomination.
The Bousaba surname in Miye ou Miye, is written in different ways: Bousaba, Abusaba and Busaba. Thanks to the moukhtar in the past, now, the family in Miye ou Miye goes by Bousaba and Aassaf.
Due to the Lebanese civil war, like any other village or town in Lebanon, the Bousaba’sof Miye ou Miye, are scattered in Lebanon and around the world. Some are in Beirut, Lebanon; Australia, Canada, France, Qatar, Sudan, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and United States of America.
Miye ou Miye, is a village in southern Lebanon located 5 km (3.2 mi) East of Sidon and 45 km (28 mi) south of the capital Beirut and it overlooks the Mediterranean Sea. The village lies at an average altitude of 156 m (512 ft) above sea level.
